Best campground in Wisconsin. You are right on the water and the Harbor Lights bar in the campground has the best fish fry around (Lake Superior white fish). Yumm. This place is very secluded with wooded campsites and water side campsites. Has two very nice boat landings, and slips available for up to 50 footers. Hundreds of miles of ATV trails that run right into the campground so there is no trailering. I think it is Wisconsin's best kept secret.

We have family that lives near there. So a trip to the lake in the summer is a must do on the checklist. Great view of the lake! Harbor lights is a nice place just up the hill from the camp. Long wait for the fish fry on friday but the time flies when youre having a good time anyway. Also you gotta go to Hurley and grab some cheese at a place called Z's Cheese Haus on 5th Ave. Also not far from there is the World famous Reinerio Sausage Company on 77 in Pence (no signage, just ask any local where the house is)and get some nibble sticks and salamini sausage to take back to camp!!!

We stayed there in July 2007 and had an absolutely wonderful time. Waking up every morning with a awesome view of Lake Superior was worth every cent. We didn't think the ATVs made much noise and the improvements they have done the last year are wonderful. The caretaker said they may install additional water availability in the near future!

Who wants noisy ATVs coming and going in the campground? I sure don't!

Small, out of the way, expensive spot to "camp" side by side on a grass field close by others. I decided the price of $9/night + $2/day use fee + $3/night electric fee + $5 daily boat (kayak) launch fee was just too much. There's many better places for free close by.

For directions you can go on Mapquest and just type in Saxon Harbor and it will show you the way. Otherwise if you are familiar with Wisconsin, take I-39/51 north all the way to Hurley, then get on US-2 west and go about 12 miles, take a right (north) on Highway 122, follow that for about 5 miles to county A, take a left on A (you can only go left on A). It is only about a mile down A. Get ready for the breathtaking view of Lake Superior when you come over the big hill and you are there. CAUTION!!! If you are have a big RV, be careful on the hill. It is quite a drop and I have seen a few trucks smoke their brakes. The hill is only about 1/8 mile down but about a 6% grade. If anybody checks this place out, please let me know what you think.
