Description
By taking the only paved road north out of Bouse Arizona until the pavement ends (at a forked road), take the right fork (dirt for 300 ft) and you will see an area for parking of RVs. No facilities but it is a nice road (both forks) for ATV riding. You can ATV or 2-wheel drive to the Bill Williams River by taking the dirt left fork and staying straight on that road. It can support 10-20 RVs at least and you pick where you want to park. There is a hill next to it for great views of the desert.

Quartzsite is almost empty now [4-14-2010]. The area between Quartzsite and Bouse has hardly any campers now. The weather is unusually nice now. Most Snowbirders took off too early and freezing their tail feathers off up north. With the world wide weather patterns changing you can't just assume anymore. Things are changing radically, the Polar Bears are drowning. The Sun is going crazy and the Bee's are dying. So quit your job, sell everything you own, buy an rv and hit the open road...it's later than you think.

For those that have questions about dry camping in the Bouse/Quartzite area, check out this website. These folks do it every year and they keep an online journal. http://fulltime.hitchitch.com/protect

Hi Guys-I live in Bouse. The roads are pretty well maintained and the folks are friendly. I feel safer in Bouse than anywhere I have ever camped. That's why we bought a home here. Friendly people and great places to go. Enjoy your stay in the area.

Also to Eric: I forgot to say it is a friendly atmosphere and is as safe as boondocking can get. There aren't many local attractions other than Quartzsite to gather too much attention in this area, although it is triangulated by major routes Highways 72, 60, and 95. There is really very little traffic on the B&Q Road for you to worry much about. The people in the desert are far more friendly than city folks.

To Eric: Not a problem for camping trailers or 5th wheels. Lots of space and a few old mines in the area; the Mudersbach is close to the road on southeast side and is open for drywashing and exploring, and the Southern Cross (patented, keep out without permission) by 4-wheel drive. Bouse has all the basic conveniences and is RV friendly.

Do travel trailers ever stay there or is it just motorhomes? How safe is it/do you feel when you boondock there? Thanks

There are plenty of good spots on this road and most of the sites are hard packed down. The road itself is exceptional and no problem for any length of motorhome.

The Bouse/Quartzsite/Plomosa Road is paved all the way. No problem for big rigs.

West of Bouse on Bouse Quartzsite Road there is lots of BLM land one can camp on for free. 2 weeks is the stay and also there is a city campsite on the same road only a mile out from town with water and dumping. I have spent lots of time out in this BLM land and it's only about 12 miles to Quartzsite.

Does anyone know if the road is in good shape? We have a 36-foot DP and will be towing a truck.
