Description
Just prior to entering the park, turn right and go approximately five miles (good gravel road). You will enter the Coronado National Forest. There are large areas on each side of the road to pull off and camp. There were a dozen or so RVs there when I arrived and still plenty of room to be had. Nice area with trees and you can have a campfire. I WAS DIRECTED THERE BY THE RANGER AT THE ENTRANCE STATION TO THE PARK. REASON IS, MY RV WAS TOO BIG FOR THEIR CAMPGROUND AREA.

I live in Douglas which is approximately an hour away. I camp in that area frequently. The mountains are very spiritual. I recommend highly recommend the area.

Yes. I camped there last May with 39ft motorhome and a toad.

I'm heading in that direction next month. I have a 34-foot motorhome plus toad. Will the campsites accommodate my rig?

Spent some time here in the summer of 06. Very quiet and really secluded. Spent a quiet night in front of a small fire and swore I could hear old Geronimo and his braves chanting.

Our family went here the day after Thanksgiving. It was nice and quiet. We were also able to use quads and dirt bike. There are many trails to explore. If you explore up the main road for about 10-15 miles, you will find a real nice picnic area with tables and fire pits. Another good thing about this is that it's free. We went into the monument park once and by the time we got out of there, it cost us about $40. We got up to the campsites and we couldn't even eat there. They wanted to charge us more money, so we had to go all the way back down to the bottom in order to eat lunch. So before you get to the monument park, make a right to the free campsites!
