Large trees, mountains, great small town. From I-10, south on Highway 83 to Sonoita. Right on 82 16 miles to Patagonia. Left on the first street. Pass post office and go left on Harshaw Road. Five miles for camping on both sides. One more mile turn right, go three miles for more camping. "Ghost towns."

Patagonia is one of our favorite towns in Arizona. The drive there is just amazing if you come via Sonoita. Though you cannot boon dock in the city park (signs are posted against this), you can hang out there all day and most of the evening before you must move. We parked our trailer next to the park and hung out there all day enjoying the grass and the shade. Up the road is Patagonia State Park, my favorite place on Earth. The camping there is gorgeous as it is in the foothills of the Santa Rita mountains. The cost is over $20 per night with park entrance, but well worth it. We love to rent a peddle boat and go across the lake. There are many petroglyphs in the rocks directly across the lake. It is quite a hike up to the top and if you are not in excellent shape, don't try it. It's worth the effort at the top. The petroglyphs are everywhere and few people know about them.

Stayed in forest north of Patagonia in 2/06. Plan to do so again in 2/07. Beautiful; quiet.
