I have spent many nights traveling on I-75 in Georgia and staying in rest areas. I have never had a problem doing this and most of Georgia's rest areas also provide a free dump station. Florida I-75 states "No Overnight Parking" but I have done it with no problem. The truckers do it.

No more dump stations at GA Interstate Rest Areas. All were closed and the reason given was EPA concerns.

I am a trucker and I would not recommend telling any trucker to leave a rest area because he parked in the rv parking. This could lead to a very bad free camping experience!!!!

I know there are patroled (secured) rest area's on I-75 in Ga. Does anyone know exactly where they are both North and South bound? Roy

My attorney told me one time, "ill eagle" is a sick bird. Unlawful is something entirely different.

We stopped at a FL rest stop near Lake City, saw the signs permitting four hours parking. We asked the attendant (they have attendants overnight!) about it and he said we could stay. So we did. The only problem was the refrigerator truck that pulled in next to us after we went to bed.

There is a rest stop on I-75 south of Macon that has a designated spot for RVs and truckers are supposed to stay out of it. And I saw no time limit there. Of course that doesn't mean that when the other lot is full that they won't try to park in there. One did, and someone from an RV told him to leave and he did.

Four-hour limit in Florida rest areas. Consider this: if you are sleepy, the FHP doesn't want you on the road(s). If they run you out of the rest area and you have an accident, they would be liable. This is what my trucker friends have told me.

To the guy who stated that you can only stay for 4 hours: yes, it is the law, but the 4 hours start from the time the Highway Patrol sees you there, not from the time you stopped there..lol :)

That, my friend, is an intelligent interpretation of the law.

I agree with Jerry. We have many options that are "discretionary" to officers. One example that may be relevant. A public fishing pier was posted as "closes at 10:00pm." No opening time listed so we could remove anyone causing a problem if "after closing." But the father and son just fishing were considered there after it opened.
