Description
Middle Fork River. Go to Google Maps, type in the following EXACTLY: 1690 North 7900 East. This is an Elk Nature preserve in the winter and a horseback riding/trail hiking area. The street view pics look desert-like; however, the camping is a parking area with a stream and several huge trees for shade. Short hike to the river and other streams. Stream in camping/parking area. Great open spaces and rarely anyone there. We take the dogs "off leash" all the time. Officially a FREE camping area with a 10-day maximum stay during 30 days. Fire pits. Weekends attract horseback riders and trailers. Pineview Reservoir is a short drive away with boat launch. Anderson Cove (pay campground) is also located on this lake. Ogden is 30 minutes away. SAFE area; highly recommended. We live in this high mountain valley. *Note: there are no ammenities and no camp host. Large area for turning around, big rig friendly (horse trailers pull in here and turn around with no problems).

Camped here in June 2012. Signs say "Wildlife Management Area", Camping limit 10 days out of 30. FREE!! Quiet! Nice view! On the East end of the parking area where there are a couple large cottonwood trees for shade, but expect the best spot to be taken. Probably 20 rigs could camp here at once. We just parked far from others and then ran the generator to cool off the RV in the evening after a sunny 94F day. Expect a nice down canyon breeze around sunset. Only 5 mins to Pineview / Huntsville/Eden. Ground is uneven and a little rocky, but had no trouble creeping over the round stones to turn the 5th wheel to get it level. Perfect. And perfectly FREE and Legal!

Google Maps recognizes this address: "1960 N 7900 E, Cache National Forest, Ogden Valley, Weber, Utah 84317" Road ends at the Camping Area but trails extend beyond. We have taken Boy Scouts up this trail. Nice for Backpacking too. Picture shows a spot about 1.9 miles up the trail right along the river. Happy Hiking!
