Description
From I-70 take Wolcott exit [157] north on Highway 131 past mile marker 21. Turn left [west] onto Colorado River Road [301 Road], an excellent dirt and gravel road w/mag chloride treatment. Approximately 7.3 miles in, cross bridge and turn right into recreation area. Facilities include pit toilet, gravel boat launch ramp, two parking areas for RVs/boat trailers, 3 tables and 2 fire pits on east side of creek, 4 tables and 3 fire pits on west side of creek. Stay a night or two and enjoy the Colorado River, and on far shore, the D. & R. G. W. R.R. Not quite the Grand Canyon, but nevertheless a beautiful canyon. If you prefer, there are numerous easily accessible dispersed campsites along the road on the way in.
