Nice free campground in the Mayacama Mountain range in Lake County. Well-maintained dirt roads lead to the campground. OK for small trailers and RVs. No hookups. Pit toilets and fire rings. Wood collecting for your campfire allowed. Site at 3000 feet elevation among the pines and usually plenty of spaces. Go north on Highway 175 out of Middletown approximately 8 miles to the Boggs Mountain Demonstration Forest entrance on the right. Pick up a leaflet for $1 donation or look at info kiosk for campground location. Not too hard to find: just stay straight on the road and campground will be on your left.

Great free campground! The camp has beautiful well maintained hiking trails. Campsites are clean and quiet. I would definitely recommend it.

I hesitate to post a comment here, not because the trip was bad, but because We found a "little piece of Heaven", and I don't know that I want the word out about this place. :-) If you like to enjoy nature without being hooked up to the world, this is the place to be. Clean and well maintained. Is easy to find, 10 miles out of Middletown, right turn on Forrest rd. I will be back....

Well my friend and I attempted to find this place last night in the dark. What a mess. But we found it. Quiet, beautiful. It was a little hard to find but not totally. It is after cobb comming from the south on 175. And more like 10 miles north of middletown. And the entrance is right after the cobb church. P.s. There's LOTS of bees during the day. Rattlesnakes sighted and red bears. No bear boxes either.
