Description
Staying overnight at the Wal-Mart in Grants Pass is a no-no. On the same parking lot is Big O Tire at 142 NE Terry Lane. There you can spend the night. Many truckers do too. This is a tip I got from the parking lot guard at Wal-Mart. The parking lot is not owned by Wal-Mart. Ask a manager where to park.

Walmart in GP is a freakin homeless camp. Id continue down the safety corridor just a bit past the YMCA is the fairgrounds parking (big dirt area just past the Y on the right) Althoug having actually lived in GP for 3 years and now refer to it as "The Butt Hole Of Oregon" I would say just continue on to Medford or if your going North to the rest area about 10 mins past GP.

If you ever go to Crescent City California watch out the walmart there DOES NOT AND WILL NOT let rvs park overnight there at all signs posted. So be warned fellow RVers, they are very rude too!!!

There are MANY homeless people that live in and around the Walmart parking lot, not all of them have an RV to live in either. The area behind Big O is now an Arby's, and I doubt the owner of Big O would want people camped out on their property. If you want to take a risk, then park there, I see dozens of RVs in the Walmart parking lot all the time now, it's a shame because it looks seedy and discourages customers and it looks very unsafe.

It's not Big O Tires anymore, it's grants pass Tires. So it was unclear if it is ok to boondock. Walmart is across the street though.

Stayed there a night in December 08. Asked inside the store, no problem. Several other campers there.

We have stayed there in our truck several times while we wait to get loaded from a local business and have never had a problem. As a matter of fact the Walmart personnel are very helpful in helping us to locate such things as laundries, etc.

The area behind the tire store is now an Arbys. However, There are several RV's now in the Wal Mart lot on a daily basis so evidently they're not as strict.

I live here and have to tell you, our Wal-Mart parking lot has unfortunately turned into a homeless camp. The rigs that park there stay several days at a time and I personally witnessed some shady activity going on in one of the trailers. Even if it's allowed, I would pass it by if I were traveling through the area.
